Koh Pangan, the island which is famous for the monthly mainstream Full Moon Parties on Haad Rin beach. It lays between Koh Tao and Koh Samui and only an hour speed catamaran ride from Koh Tao.
I came here 2 weeks ago as well to meet Marek and his lovely family who came here for a a few days to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful beaches. I only spent a day here and we had great fun with the guys. We know each other from Dynatrace where we became very good friends. They stayed in the south east end of the island which offers 2 beautiful beaches: Leela beach on the west side, and Haad Rin beach (the Full Moon party place) on the east side of the peninsula. The beaches are 5 – 10 mins walking distance from each other. Like I said we had a great day together, walking on the beach, eating nice Thai food and we had very nice chat about politics and the good old times 🙂 Also want to thank them the gift they brought me 🙂
I slept in a Thai bungalow at the Amaresa Resort & Sky Bar which was only 300 meters from Marek’s hotel. The staff was very nice and I especially loved the view from the sky bar, down to the Haad Rin beach. It was awesome to have a breakfast there.
That morning right after the breakfast I headed to Koh Samui to extend my visa in the immigration office. The process was quite simple: I had to pay 2,000 bahts and leave my passport there for 2 – 3 hours and the job was done.
That way I got a sample from Koh Samui too. I had 2 hours to walk around the Mae Nam beach and take some photos. Although this long beach was quite nice but Koh Samui is not my place for sure. It is even more touristic than Koh Pangan and highly overpriced so a proper a tourist factory. Koh Tao is the best of these 3 🙂
Once I got my passport back, I had to take a long ride with a moto-taxi because most of the ferries were full, so I had to go pier by pier to secure a place on a boat to Koh Tao. I managed so I did not need to spend the night there. When I was waiting for the boat, I ate a very evil dessert… Hot donuts with ice cream and with a syringe (wtf??) full of nutella. The inventor is a very evil genius. I couldn’t resist 🙂
2 weeks later after I said good bye to the heavenly Koh Tao, I came back to Koh Pangan to spend a week with a very good friend. We had a blast for sure. The images will tell you the story (not the whole story!!)… We stayed in the amazing Salad Beach at the Villa Cha Cha Hotel. More precisely in room 210 which became a legend with our stay 🙂
Salad Beach is a very calm beach in a small bay, with a few restaurants and bars and massage places. It is not know at all, therefore only the guests of the beach-side resorts go there. Very quite and chilled atmosphere. I highly recommend it for families.
Apart from Salad Beach we visited another phenomenal beach on the north: the Mae Haad beach from where you can walk on a sand bar to the Ko Ma island. This place is sensational…
I am also glad we met Roya, from Toronto here at Koh Pangan. We made her laugh big time…

2 hete is atugrottam ide, hogy talalkozzak Marekkel es kedves csaladjaval. Marekek a sziget del-keleti reszen szalltak meg, amely nagyon kozel esik a Leela es a Haad Rin (Full Moon party) strandokhoz. Ahogy emlitettem egy kiraly napot toltottunk egyutt, kellemes thai kajakkal fuszerezve.
Egy hagyomanyos thai bungalloban toltottem azt az estet az Amaresa Resort & Sky Bar-ban, ami 300 meterre volt Marekek hoteljetol. Ahogy Azsiaban altalaban, a szemelyzet nagyon kedves volt itt is. A kilatas pedig a Haad Rin beach-re a barbol, bombasztikus volt. Jo volt ott reggelizni.
Aznap reggel Koh Samuira utaztam, hogy meghosszabbitsam a vizumomat az Immigration Office-ben. A folyamat egyszeru volt: 2,000 baht koruli osszeget kellett otthagynom es az utlevelem 2 – 3 orara.
Volt tehat par oram, hogy mintat vegyek Koh Samuibol is. 2 oran at setafikaltam a Mae Nam strandon es lottem par szep fotot. Bar ez a hosszu strand eleg tuti volt, Koh Samui nem az en vilagom, ezt a kovetkeztetest gyorsan levontam. Meg Koh Pangannal es joval mainstream-ebb es tularazottabb, szoval egy igazi turista-gyar. A 3 kozul messze Koh Tao viszi a primet.
Amint visszakaptam az utlevelem, egy eleg hosszu motor-taxi ut vart ram, mivel a legtobb hajo megtelt Koh Taora. Hosszu hajsza utan vegul sikerult jegyet vennem, igy nem kellett ott toltenem az ejszakat. Mikozben a hajo indulasara varakoztam, bekajaltam egy nagyon gonosz desszertet… Forro fank fagyival es egy orvosi fecskendo (???) tele nutellaval beleszurva a fankba. A feltalalo egy gonosz zseni volt. Nem birtam ellenallni.
2 hettel kesobb es miutan bucsut intettem a mennyei Koh Taonak, visszajottem egy hetre hogy egy nagyon jo baratommal toltsek el egy hetet itt Koh Panganon. Nagy show volt. A kepek onmagukert beszelnek (nem minden kepet lehetett felrakni :)) A fantasztikus Salad Beachen levo Villa Cha Cha Hotelben szalltunk meg. Pontosabban a 210-es szobaban, ami az ott letunk utan legendava alakult 🙂
Salad Beach egy nagyon kis nyugis es gyonyoru strand egy kis obolben. Van itt nehany etterem, bar es masszazs bungallo. A beach egyaltalan nem ismert a tipikus koh pangani turistak elott, kizarolag a vizparti hotelekbol lattunk itt vendegeket. Eszmeletlenul nyugis hely, melegen ajanlom pihenni vagyo csaladoknak.
Salad Beach-en kivul meglatogattuk a fenonemalis Mae Haad beach-et is eszakon. Errol a strandrol at tudsz setalni egy viz alatti homokpadon at a Ko Ma szigetre. Ez a hely szenzacios volt…
