English version:
It took a good 2.5 hours to go from Ubud to Munduk with a grab-taxi. I was looking forward to arrive here because although Ubud was very pretty; I was keen to escape from the swarms of selfie-making tourists.
Munduk is a tiny village in the Northern-Central mountain area. The climate is a little bit…let’s say 5 – 6 degrees cooler than in the other parts of Bali.
The village is only a 1 road place with some nice home-stays and restaurants which all offer fantastic panoramas to the rainforest covered mountains. We stayed in the Taman Ayu homestay which is owned by a very friendly local family. They even let us use their scooter for free when we wanted to buy something. And oh yess! The black rice pudding what they cook for desert is phenomenal. I have already googled and saved the recipe for the future.
We had a fantastic and very relaxing time here what we mainly spent on hiking. There are numerous waterfalls you can choose from over here and we visited the one called Melanting. It was gigantic and very gorgeous.
From Munduk, our hosts drove us to Amed. Amed is a small fishing village which is situated on the North East side of Bali. Its volcanic beaches attract divers from all over the world. The marine life is very diverse, the corals are beautiful, there are plenty of ship-wrecks and because of the rocky bottom of the ocean the water is crystal clear. I probably saw this clear water in Croatia before, but it was not 30 degrees like here in Bali 🙂
And how did we end up in Amed? I met a new friend in Koh Tao, Katiana a Spanish diving instructor who told me a month ago that she will be moving back to Amed. The way she talked about this place made me wanted to come here for sure. And the other reason like I said, Flori was interested to get a scuba diving certificate so it was a no-brainer to come and see Katiana. And to do the course in the waveless, warm and safe waters of Amed. We owe Katiana and also Tubuh (my dive guide) a lot. They both made us feel home in this incredible place where we spent 2.5 fantastic weeks. Thanks guys a million and can’t wait to see you again!
We stayed at the Soka Amed beach homestay which was also fantastic and spent our time with diving, scooting around, watching the sunset by the Agung volcano and we also visited the Pura Luhur Lempuyang temple deep in the jungle. By the way, Agung is the volcano which was in the news last November when it wanted to erupt but eventually changed its mind. The mountain is breathtaking, 3.2km high and it totally dominates the area. And nothing to worry about, It is completely safe now so come to Amed if you want to escape the crowds and your busy life.
Most of our freetime we spent on Lipah Beach where we also ate the best foods in Bali. Our favourite beachside restaurant is called Pondok Vienna Beach Restaurant. The grilled mahi mahi with balinese sauce and the balinese pancake are something which makes you forget about your diet plans.
Amed is a very amazing place and we will come back here for sure…
Magyar verzio:
A falu mindossze egy utbol all, ahol kellemes homestay-ek es vendeglok varjak a latogatokat. A receptjet mar eltettem kesobbre.
Fantaszikus es pihenteto ittletunk foleg turazasbol allt. Szamos vizesesbol valaszthatsz Mundukban, mi a Melantinghoz mentunk el. Hatalmas volt es gyonyoru.
Mundukbol hazigazdaink elvittek bennunket Amedba. Amed egy kis horgasz falu Bali eszak-keleti oldalan. Vulkanikus beach-ei foleg buvarokat vonzanak a vilag minden tajarol.
A vulkan Bali legmagasabb hegye es 3.2 km-evel lelegzetelallito modon uralja a kornyeket.
Szabadidonk legnagyobb reszet a Lipah beach-en toltottuk, ahol a strandolas mellett Bali legjobb kajait ettuk. A kedvenc ettermunk itt a Pondok Vienna Beach Restaurant, ahol a grillezett mahi mahi balinez szosszal es a balinez palacsinta olyan dolgok, amiktol azonnal megfeledkezel a dietadrol.
